[edit] Introduction

These are guidelines that apply to Japanese songs in addition to those found here.

[edit] Page Titles

Songs with Japanese titles should have the page name with the original Japanese song name. The template {{JaTitle}} can then be used to add the romanization and translation. See BUMP OF CHICKEN:天体観測 for an example.

[edit] Containing Ruby

As seen in this example (みんな()ってしまった (1976)) some page titles contain {{ruby}}. Currently there is no known way to format page titles (currently, adding the ruby tag to a page title does not work out well...), but the link is formattable.

For page titles, either have it with ruby (the bold section): 漢字(ルビ) <<kanji>>(<<ruby>>), or without ruby: 漢字 <<kanji>>
*preferably with ruby as some readings are completely different to the normal reading:

  • Example: 人間(ロボット) ningen(ROBOTTO) human(robot)

The link appearance mainly depends on how the title was displayed on the CD, and is adaptable much easier than Page Titles.

[edit] Lyrics

  • Lyrics sections should be marked with the type of lyrics it is, either Kanji, Romanization/Romaji/etc., or Translation. This should be done like this:
==Kanji==
<lyrics>
これは運命かも 君に逢えるって
  • The first letter in each line of lyrics is capitalized for English translations, capitalization of the romanized lyrics should follow the rules for romanization.
  • It is best if the lyrics displayed reflect the lyrics as they are found on the recorded version.

[edit] Missing Parts

If you do not have kanji, a romanization or an English translation for a given song, please mark the song as needing that part with these templates:

If you have a missing part to an existing song, remove the appropriate marker after adding it.

[edit] SongFooter Template

Japanese songs generally use a few additional parameters for the song footer, these being the romanized versions of the artist, album and song parameters.

SongFooter Template Example:

{{SongFooter|
|album    = 運命
|romanizedAlbum=Unmei
|artist   = 石川形一
|romanizedAritst=Keiichi Ishikawa
|song     = この世には
|romanizedSong= Kono Yo Ni Wa
|fLetter  = K
|video    =
|language = Japanese
|asin     =
|iTunes   =
}}

The parameter fLetter is not Symbol, but rather the the first letter of the romanized title. If the first letter is something other than a kanji/kana/alphabet, please mark it as 0-9 or Symbol as appropriate.

Brief but helpful explanation of how the parameters within SongFooters are used can be found here.

This page is a stub, because it does not contain the required information for this type of page. Please help us expand it.
  • If this is an artist page, please add links to all existing song pages. If possible categorize them by album, otherwise put them in an Other songs section and tag the page with {{Split}}.
  • If this is a lyrics page and you know the lyrics for this song or where to find them, please insert them on this page. If no lyrics exists for this song please tag it appropriately, for example using the {{Instrumental}} or {{deletion}} templates.
