Help:Contents/Uploading Content/Album Covers
From LyricWiki
Getting started
| Getting involved |
LyricWiki supports storing files such as images, and is available for use for storing low quality representations of album covers under fair use laws.
When logged into LyricWiki you will notice an "Upload file" link in the toolbox on the left-hand side of the screen. Clicking on that link will allow you to upload a file.

Naming
Filenames should follow the format
Artist Name - Album Name.jpg
Image Format
JPEGs are preferred, and shouldn't be too large, preferably less than 600x600 and 153600 or fewer bytes in size.
Summary Field
In the summary field, note the artist and album, as well as any other information you have about the file. It is suggested that you use the Albumcover/Upload template.
{{Albumcover/Upload|
|artist = artist name
|album = album name
|year = album year
|info = Some info here, might be awards the cover has won or the name of its creator.
(This parameter is optional)
}}
Fair Use Statement
You should also include the following Fair Use Statement (per Wikipedia)
=== Fair use in [[Artist Name]] === Though this image is subject to copyright, I feel its use <br /> is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because: # It is a low resolution copy of a CD album cover. # It does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the CD album in any way. # Copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the album artwork on another CD. Placeholder Images
In someplaces, an album art placeholder image is shown instead of the album art. Under this image are two links, the one labeled 'Upload Cover' will take you to the upload page and handle naming the file automatically. When after successfully uploading the image, the album cover still does not appear on the page, you should purge it using the second link, to completely refresh the page (in technical terms: purging the page clears the cache). An example of the image is shown here.
