Help:Multiple Languages

From LyricWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

Info If you would like to add a translation to a song and the song was not released in that language, please see Help:Translations.

Songs that have been released in multiple languages should have each release as a separate page and should be linked to each other.

[edit] When NOT to create a new page

Please do not create a separate page for romanization of non-english scripts. Please refer to Help:Romanization for guidelines on romanization.

[edit] Article Titles

Songs released in multiple languages should have the postfix /<language code> for each additional language the song was release in. You can go here for a list of language codes.

The original release of a song should be the primary article. For example, the English release of the song V6:Change The World should reside under V6:Change The World/en.

If the song was released simultaneously in multiple languages, prefer the artist's primary language.

[edit] Helper Templates

Template:Multiple Languages was created to make linking between the different releases of a song. This should be placed at the top of the page directly after the link to the artist.

The syntax is:

{{Multiple Languages
|Artist=V6
|Song=Change The World
|Original=ja
|Lang1=en
|Lang2=es
}}

This will create a box like

The lyrics for this song exist in multiple languages, these are: 日本語, English, Español

The languages should be sorted alphabetically so that all the pages have the same ordering.
