This serves as a general guide to romanizing lyrics in non-Latin based scripts.
In general, the usual rules for romanizing a language should be followed. When there are multiple romanization schemes or ambiguities may arise, the language should be listed below. When the language is not listed, please try to come to consensus at the talk page. If you disagree with the rules for a language set out below, please use the Discuss here link provided at the top of the list to start a discussion. Please do not change the rules without discussing them first, this will lead to confusion.

Romanization rules for Greek
Important Notice
This is the very first draft for romanizing Greek songs, so it should NOT be adhered to before it's practicality has been discussed here! This notice will be removed at that point. For more information on this subject, please also see this Wikipedia article, though keep in mind that some romanizations might be inappropriate for someone with no prior knowledge of the Greek Language.

Additional Guidelines
- Double vowels separated with diairesis (διαλυτικά) should be written normally as independant vowels. (e.g. παιδί=pedi, παΐδι=paidi)
- Gamma (Γγ) should be romanized as "g" only when followed by another consonant. (e.g. γράφω=grafo)
- Double Gamma (γγ) and Gamma-Kappa (γκ) should be allowed some flexibility since their pronunciation can vary greatly according to the phthong following it. Select the pronunciation that sounds more natural (if possible the one used by the singer himself) (e.g. φεγγάρι=feggari, άγγελος=angelos). The same goes for μπ and ντ.
Exception: Συγγνώμη should be romanized as signomi.
- Do not use j for τζ as the english j is too voiced to represent the actual greek sound.

- Compound verbs should be written as a single word, 走り続ける(hashiritsudzukeru), instead of breaking it apart at the kanji, (
hashiri tsudzukeru) - Contractions should be written with an apostrophe (') indicating where sounds have been left out: 走ってる(hashitte'ru)
- あぁ should be romanized as 'aa'.
- っ at the end of a word (and usually also the end of the sentance) should not be included in the romanization.
