Deletion Requests
Deletion requests should be placed at the top of the actual page being deleted. Not really a big deal, I suppose, but if I hadn't been taking my time and looking closely, I might have just deleted the Talk page, and not the actual Metallica:No Leaf Clover S&m lyrics page! :- ] All is cool, though! --Kiefer <img src="/images/5/58/KieferE.jpg" alt="Esperanza" /> <img src="/images/f/f9/KieferTalk.jpg" alt="Talk!" /> 22:03, 10 October 2007 (EDT)
- Whoa, thanks for the heads up. I think I did that on one of my other deletion recommendation ... better go check... Aquatiki 07:45, 11 October 2007 (EDT)
4 Non Blondes
Whether redirection or deletion is best is hazy, in a lot of cases. Since it was pretty close to the real thing (an extra 'i' I think) I set it to redirect. In cases of a horrible misname (ie Fornonblondes - driffting, or somesuch) would be a definite redirect.

- I was about to object, and then I thought of something that made me agree with you: the UberBot might very well go out and scrape up that some wrong page again if we delete the page. Since it already exists (but only as a redirect) it won't recreate the page!
- I think should go handle all those {{deletion}} requests I've made... you think? --Åqúàŧĩkī - É - Ŧ 02:32, 13 October 2007 (EDT)
Bot tools
Hi Aquatiki, UberBot's code is actually written in Perl mostly (not PHP) and I generally keep it locked down because it's a smidge to dangerous to give out (if someone malicious got a hold of it in transit they could use it to entirely ruin our wiki, or even Wikipedia).
I do think I have some code that can help, however. On the scraping side, you can check out a scraping suite I wrote in PHP to use in my open source SiloSync project. Here is a link to the code for the Scraper class in the public svn repository. It's been tested a lot less than UB's scraping, so there may be unicode issues or something (but it doesn't look like that should be a problem for the data you're scraping). If it is a problem, let me know because I would have to fix it anyway!
For the insertions, my recommendation would be to look into the api.php file that comes in the root directory of newer versions of MediaWiki (you're running 1.10, which I'm fairly sure already has the api). It would be best to insert the data into your wiki using that I would think.
The whole process is a bit arduous (which is why everyone doesn't just do it), but that Scraper class should knock off weeks of work for you.
Let me know how it goes,

Switchfoot
Looks like we're both working on Switchfoot at the same time! I am doing my best to make sure it conforms to all of LyricWiki's standards as defined in the Formatting section here: http://lyricwiki.org/Help:Contents I want to change all the 'lyric' codes to 'lyrics', I'm literally that obsessive, haha. And get all the song, YouTube, iTunes, Wiki, and all other links all set up. I also went through both The Legend Of Chin and New Way To Be Human, and listened along with the CD and adjusted the lyrics word for word, so they should be PERFECT. I still have to do the other 4 albums and all the singles. I've also created a new page for Jon Foreman, and added his new EPs there (his Fall EP comes out on Tuesday), and I want to include all of his covers as well. Let me know if we can help each other out! My email address is General_Grievous @+ h0tmai1 d0+ c0m. Maybe we can work as a team to perfect Switchfoot and Jon.-- ApprenticeA 02:37, 18 November 2007 (EST)
- That's great 'cause I'm obsessive too! I appreciate getting things to be inline with wiki standards as well. Speaking of which, whenever you type on a talk page, be sure to end with -- ~~~~ which adds the date/time and your name, so people know who wrote what. --Åqúàŧĩkī - É - Ŧ 02:36, 18 November 2007 (EST)
- Not a problem, I'm still getting used to Wiki'ing. Switchfoot is my first one ever, and I'm only really here for them, haha. I just hate how a lot of lyric sites are incorrect, and this is giving me an opportunity to "fix the internet" and correct some wrong Switchfoot lyrics. -- ApprenticeA 02:39, 18 November 2007 (EST)
- Not only that, but it's like we're fixing the whole internet. User:Uberbot goes out and gets stuff from all over, and if we redirect/fix it, it's as though we're correcting anything and everything ;-P --Åqúàŧĩkī - É - Ŧ 02:48, 18 November 2007 (EST)

The Beavis And Butt-Head Experience (1993)
I saw that you edited "Monsta Mack" by Sir Mix-A-Lot to be "Monster Mack". Wikipedia and Amazon have "Monsta Mack", which seems like the usual "old-school" rap spelling style, but I don't have the actual album to check. Can you double-check this one? Thanks!
