i didn't spam anything... "word..." was the extent of my input... and only one other person ever wrote...

[edit] disney

hi, i saw you editing albums such as aladdin, peter pan, don't you think that the artist should be disney, and the album should be aladdin, peter pan, lion king, etc? just an idea

[edit] Soundtrack Help

Hey, I noticed you posted something about soundtracks on Kiefer's talk page (through the Recent Changes). This is an exact quote from Kiefer that he left on my talk page.

"In the past, I've told others that in regards to soundtracks (although normally I'm talking about regular movie soundtracks like Moulin Rouge) to leave off the Artist designation and use only the Album format. ("Big Movie Soundtrack (2002)" instead of "Various Artists:Big Movie Soundtrack (2002)")".

Hope this helps you. I think the Compilation thing is a great idea, as a "NOW!" CD is a different style than a soundtrack specifically for a movie. (And yes, I'm also another person addicted to this site. -- Khluvr621 14:16, 21 March 2007 (EDT)

Well, there you are...and in my own words, too! You can certainly add Category:Compilation as well...that is a great idea to help differentiate between those pesky various artist albums. If there is a large series of compilations, such as "NOW!" then a central page (like an Artist page) can be created to list the albums for easier reference. I'd still leave off the Various Artist bit and just go for the "NOW! 22 (2005)" (or however they are titled) designation for the namepage. Glad to hear that you are both addicted to LyricWiki, BTW! --Kiefer 20:58, 21 March 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Bon Jovi

I see that you've begun the horrid task that is the Bon Jovi page. Just wanted to also mention that I've noticed that you've tackled a few big projects and I know the challenges that they hold, so I appreciate your hard work. As for "Jon Bongiovi"...I'm unfortunately old school enough that I just knew what his real name was. I'll take 80s Music Trivia for $2000, Alex! --Kiefer 17:23, 16 April 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Adminship

Hey,
Are you interested in being an admin? Let me know :)
Thanks,
-Sean Colombo (talkcontribs)

Sean,
Sure I would love to be an admin. Just let me know exactly what to do and how! Thanks!
--Jeff 23:44, 5 May 2007 (EDT)
You're an admin now! The only major differences are that you can protect pages, edit protected pages, delete pages, etc... there is no specific set of tasks that you'll have to do, just keep up the great contributions you've been doing :)
Thanks for all of your help,
-Sean Colombo 02:19, 6 May 2007 (EDT)
Thanks Man! I will endeavor to live up to this worthy distinction! --Jeff 09:08, 6 May 2007 (EDT)

[edit] WarnUser Template

I edited User talk:69.221.76.233 to remove the WarnUser template and instead add the WelcomeIP template since the user is a beginner. Good idea to let the user know what to improve on, but the WarnUser template is really for obvious spamming or vandalism, not for n00b errors. I turned the page into a redirect, which now that I think about it I'm going to change to redirect to the artist and not the song, since it's a variant of the artist name, not the song name. (Personally, I redirect anything to the correct page that isn't blatantly spelled wrong or such instead of deleting it. Just in case someone searches for "Street light manifesto" instead of "Streetlight Manifesto". "Streetlieght Mannifesto" would be deleted, though!) Perhaps we need a FYI template for situations like the one you found? Hmmm.... ----Kiefer 12:41, 7 May 2007 (EDT)

[edit] fLetter and Page Names

I didn't know which side to put this discussion on so I'll just add it to your talk page. Your quote:

I myself have looked at fLetter of late. Since English is my only language, I have been avoiding the other languages. The English ones prove to be a fair amount themselves. I might be able to look at some others once I go through English. I am glad you are taking on the task of Category:Songs_Symbol, it is a daunting endeavor and you have done many thus far. Keep up the good work!
That said, I would make a suggestion: I know you are trying to focus on fLetter, but I noticed that the items you are working on are also all lowercase titles. You should try whenever possible to also change these items to conform to the Page Names policy. I find myself doing this a lot to try to make our little world here more consistent. Let me know if you have a problem with this part and I may be able to help somewhat. --Jeff (talk, contrib,E) 08:43, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

Thanks. I've still got a few more (or so I hope :P) to go through.

In regards to the lowercase page names, I've seen Kiefer handle quite a few of the pages that I edited (auto-watch settings), and I've been meaning to lessen the load, however, school's gotten busier, and I have been away from Lyricwiki for sometime recently. Plus, I also need to check up on the coding and so on to figure out what needs to be done to move or redirect pages (my memory seems to be going down lately -*this is not good*).

Now, I've got a few questions one question (I expect more to pop up) that popped up:

 • Some titles have a spacing at the beginning. How should they be handled for fLetter? I assumed that the first letter after the spacing would be considered but I may be mistaken.

I'm also into a fair amount of consistency, especially with regards to our 'cyber galaxy'. - BryghtShadow 09:13, 8 May 2007 (EDT)

Spacing at the beginning? Shouldn't be. Do you have an example?
I'm about to go crazy on the uncaps, BTW. Yay! (At least for a little bit.) A few, I have a feeling, are going to be duplicates of existing song pages. ----Kiefer 09:33, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
Captain Capital to the rescue! --Jeff (talk, contrib,E) 10:01, 8 May 2007 (EDT)
I prefer to think of myself as the Constable of Capitalization. ;-) --Kiefer
I've got a few examples of spacing as beginning... and here they are: After Midnight Project: Never Say Never, Atomic Kitten: if You Come To Me, Scream Club: Don't Bite Your Sister (2004), A Santa Cause: It's A Punk Rock Christmas (2004), T.A.T.u: 30 Minutes, Xavier Naidoo: Danke - most songs and albums have a redirect to its non-starting-spaced equivalent.
That's all I have for the list right now. - BryghtShadow 05:16, 9 May 2007 (EDT)
Yeah, those are all incorrectly formatted pagenames, and should be moved (or redirected) to the name without the extra space after the colon. I'm not sure the origin of these specific examples, but in the past, they've appeared to be because a submitter has entered an album with this formatting (putting in the space after the colon out of habit, I guess), and then the red link has been used to create the lyric page at that location. ----Kiefer 12:10, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, JeffASaul, to Esperanza! As you might know, all Esperanzians share one goal: the success of this lyric site. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. You might want to introduce yourself at the Esperanza talk page, or just start working on the project.

If you have any questions, please contact Sean gorter through his talk page, or just ask any of the experienced members here. Good luck!

[edit] Doesn't work with my titles formating

Jeff I thank you for your help but if I leave the artist as "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" then I would have to rename all my songs from here to make this work with my Firefox plugin. If this is a problem then I guess all I have done should be deleted then I'll not edit anything to help anyone figure out who actually sang the songs

[edit] Buffy Soundtrack

Thank you Jeff for your help. I will try to think of a better way to be able to do soundtracks better.

[edit] The Rolling Stones

Hi Jeff, I can't see the Live Licks album on the page of The Rolling Stones. Has it been deleted? Otherwise I would do some corrections as you told me...

[edit] SOTD June 17, 2007

[edit] VariousArtistAlbum - reply

Yeah, you're right about the movie reference in VariousArtistAlbum, maybe it should be put in your soundtrack template instead. But I think there should be a template solely for compilation series, e.g. the ones seen on WP: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compilation_album#Famous_compilation_series, to be able to link to the series page here on LyricWiki.

I'll get back to you later, feeling kinda stressed out right now. --Frontway 10:01, 18 June 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Re: Welle:Erdball:Graf Krolock

Hi, I don’t know the actual song, but it looks like those are the correct lyrics. Probably a user just pasted the text and didn’t know how to format it. I have added the basic templates and cleared the talk page. Hs 15:44, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Re: Category Link

I saw on your User Page that you were referencing Category and it seemed like you wanted a link. You can use

[[:Category:Review_Me]] (notice the colon prior to Category)

to give you a link to Category:Review_Me

instead of using [[Category:Review_Me]]

Hope this helps! --Jeff Saul (talk, contrib,E) 16:18, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

Thanks for the tip! I was wondering how to do that. :) - Carolyn81 17:24, 29 June 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Thanks

I knew there had to be something that made more sense for the A Cinderella Story soundtrack than the ordinary album template. Thanks for redoing that page. (Even if I did have to rearrange the songs to get them in the order they're on on my CD.) MercuryBlue 19:21, 1 July 2007 (EDT)

[edit] just a question (i'm a new user)

Hey, I noticed when I looked at the Quietdrive page, there were several albums that weren't acutally released by a record company, but they were self-released. So-- Anyway, my point is, if you are part of a band and have self released an album or EP, can you create an article for it? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Cell4 (talkcontribs) .

[edit] Thanks

I am letting those who voted for me to be admin know that I appreciate it, so thanks.

[edit] Esperanza Newsletter Updated for January

Announcements

Sean gorter is thinking about creating a request-to-be-an-administrator page. Those who have an opinion may post their thoughts at LyricWiki talk:Administrators.

Members' Corner

Esperanza is in need of more collaboration as its members look on being a member as a simple honor. If Esperanza is going to help, it needs to have more participation from its members and other users: spread out the WikiLove, convince more to help the community, and other acts to help LyricWiki through the website and become one of the most visited lyric sites on the internet (google search on lyric ranks LyricWiki as #x>67 {x=unknown})
